Quick start
- Draw Tamil characters with Apple Pencil. Use the guides to keep strokes aligned.
- When your required characters are ready, continue to Refine your characters.
- Adjust the size and position of any glyph that needs correction.
- Continue to Preview & Export, enter Tamil text, name the font, and export the OTF file.
Frequently asked questions
What format does Tamil Typo export?
Tamil Typo exports OpenType Font files with the .otf extension.
Can I create multiple font weights?
Yes. At export, choose a single Regular font or include Light and Bold variations for three OTF files.
Do I need to complete every character?
No. The app can export after at least one character is drawn, but a complete set will work in more Tamil words and sentences.
Where is my work saved?
Your strokes and adjustments are saved locally on your device. They are not uploaded to our servers.
How do I share the exported font?
Use the iPadOS share sheet after export. Save the OTF file to Files or choose another available destination.
Why does a glyph look too high, low, large, or small?
Return to the Refine step and adjust that glyph’s position or scale. Preview the same Tamil word again before exporting.
Why is a Tamil word not rendering as expected?
Check that the characters and marks needed by the word have been drawn. Return to the drawing workspace, complete the missing forms, and preview again.
